MOUNTAIN YOGA KINLOCHLEVEN
MOUNTAIN YOGA KINLOCHLEVEN
Yoga is for anyone & everyone. Our focus is on developing your strength & balance from wherever your base line may be. We work with your mind, body & breath. You are neither too young nor too old to practice with us. No-one is too stiff, unfit or inflexible; we guarantee it. We love practicing both indoors on the mat and outdoors, the wilder the better. As a trained Meditation & Mindfulness teacher & Zen practitioner developing awareness, one breath at a time, wherever we find ourselves, is all part of the path. The mountains are big enough to hold whatever space we might need so come & join us at one or our classes, workshops, courses or events to see what difference you can make to your life.
Celebrate summer with a day of yoga, chi gong, forest bathing and a picnic lunch in beautiful Glencoe.
Our day begins with a seasonal yoga class indoors before we head outside to enjoy some wild mindful practices and some sociable easy going walking in some of our favourite spots in the glen. A delicious vegetarian/vegan lunch is provided and enjoyed picnic style outside, weather permitting. Finally, we end the day with a restorative indoor yoga class and guided meditation and, of course, tea and cake.

Wild Stravaigs are led by a fully qualified and insured Mountain Leader who will take final responsibility for route choice on the day taking into account the weather conditions and fitness of the group. While accepting no responsibility or liability, for outdoor events, the event host may, at their discretion, not admit you to join the walk or other event if in their opinion you are ill-equipped for the terrain and weather conditions.
This three-day retreat is based in the spectacular Scottish Highlands and will combine traditional Zen practices with mountain walking. Friday and Saturday will involve spending most of each day hiking into high mountain areas (weather permitting) with a shorter low-level walk on the last day. Previous experience of hillwalking or retreats is not required but a reasonable level of fitness is essential and some experience of retreats will be helpful.
Our days will begin and end with meditation. After breakfast and making up our packed lunches, most of our time will be devoted to walking in the mountains together as a group. We will use this as the focus for our Zen practice, walking with extended periods of silent reflection as well as incorporating some simple rituals into each journey into the mountain environment. Each of the day’s walks will be led by a qualified Mountain Leader who will hold the final decision for route choice on the day, dependent on the weather conditions. Walks may last for up to six hours. All walks will be on established paths but they are rocky and rough at times with steep drops. Ascent (and descent) may be up to 800 metres in a day – the equivalent of climbing up and down the London Eye six times.
The Scottish Highlands are famous for being able to produce ‘four seasons in one day’ and participants must be suitably equipped for a full day in the hills. Minimum essentials include: waterproof jacket with a hood, waterproof trousers, thermal layers, a sturdy pair of walking boots, hat, gloves, water-bottle or flask and rucksack. A full list will be issued to all participants.
All meals will be vegetarian/vegan. We will have a shared work rota to help with food preparation and washing up and we will make up our own packed lunches each day. The retreat is limited to 13 places.
